Blythe Hunt

Blythe is a queer, trans and neurodivergent trainee psychotherapeutic counsellor working with individuals and couples

From Blythe:

“Queer people deserve queer therapists. Being LGBTQIA+ is an incredible gift, but it can also be immensely challenging. I know the power that therapy has to bring individual change. That can translate into the wellbeing of our community.”

Hello and welcome. I’m Blythe, a recently qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor currently registered with the UKCP. I am white, middle class, queer, trans, neurodivergent and non-disabled. My pronouns are they/them/theirs.

General Information:

I qualified as a counsellor in April 2024 and have over 300 hours clinical experience.

I am a member of the UKCP & UKATA and adhere to their codes of ethics and professional standards.

Experience & Approaches:

I studied Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapy but my own practice is integrative.

TA was developed in the 1960s as an accessible form of psychoanalysis. TA emphasises autonomy, spontaneity and potency through the promotion of an understanding of self in relationship to others.

I use trauma informed theory and methodology including Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) regulation and polyvagal theory in order to support the stabilisation of the physical symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

I like to work relationally, which means looking at what the relationship between myself and the people I work with in therapy can tell us about patterns of relating and relationships outside of therapy.

I am passionate about psychoeducation in order to demystifying the process of psychotherapy and deconstruct the unhelpful and unnecessary power dynamics which often inform relationships in psychotherapy.

I have experience working with:

• Anxiety

• Depression

• Destructive anger

• Low self esteem

• Panic attacks

• Relationship difficulties

• Shame

• Low mood

• Survivors of abuse

• Trauma & traumatic memory

• substance use/addiction

• Eating disorders

• Neurodivergent and disabled people

• Queer, trans and questioning people

• Polyamorous people

• Intersex people

Setting:

I work both online (Zoom) and in-person. I currently have availability at the South London Therapy Group on Friday afternoons from 12:00.

I am looking for an accessible therapy space, but currently my in-person rooms have no adaptations for wheelchair users.

Fees:

My standard fee is £45/hour. I also have low-cost spaces available for those on state benefits and low income.
