Manuel has worked in NHS services for the last 20 years, with experience in adult community mental health teams and Child and Adolescent services (CAMHS), where he has specialised in working with families to support a relative struggling with their mental health using evidence-based techniques and strategies supported by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence in the UK, NICE.

Therapy with Families: Most people come to Family Therapy afraid of  being blamed or getting told off by their therapist about all the things they have been doing wrong. Instead, in family therapy we consider family members to be a resource and part of the solution rather than the cause of the problem.

Families often try different ways in which to support a loved one. In Family Therapy sessions, you will explore your personal and family histories, as well as the resources and needs each family member has, amplifying more empathic and curious conversations, which helps family members to get out of the rut in which they have been feeling stuck for quite some time.

Depending on what your loved one’s and family’s needs are, there is a range of techniques and strategies which are recommended in order to achieve your goals, and this can be discussed and agreed on in the sessions with your therapist.

Therapy with couples: Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method are evidence based models of helping couples work through their differences, improve their communication and learn how to support each other.

Individual Therapy: Exploring cultural and family influences in current behaviours and emotional responses as well as family attachments. Understanding and development of strategies from an interpersonal neurobiology framework.
