Maria Troupkou

Maria is a dance and movement psychotherapist working with individuals and groups

I am very creative and I work on the idea that body and movement is our first type of communication. I believe in the power of movement and how our body can support us to express our feelings and emotions and make sense of our experiences.

I have over 9 years of experience working with children, their families and adults within community, educational and care settings. Other clinical experience includes mental health and forensic rehabilitation settings. I have also worked with children and adults going through grief and loss.

I work with clients who face different challenges related to their past or current experiences and their relationships. During the initial session, we will identify the issues that you would like to work on and we will create a plan together to find the right support for you.

I am offering a safe space where you can bring all your feelings and challenges and we can use both movement and talking, depends on what you are feeling comfortable each time. The key principal of my practise is developing a safe, non- judgmental space based on empathy, trust, kindness and transparency.

I can support you to understand and express feelings and emotions that are not possible to express verbally, through the use of movement, creativity and talking about events and previous life experiences. During our work together, you may choose to move or not. At the end of the sessions we will reflect on your experience that helps you explore your feelings and your past experiences.
